Abstract

Background and Objectives: Considering the vital role of classroom management in quality of education, this study was conducted with the aim of examining the effectiveness of classroom management models from the perspective of graduates majoring in English Language Teaching at Farhangian University in Markazi Province. Methods: For this purpose, a sample consisting of 63 graduates of English Language Teaching (35 female and 28 male) from the campuses of Farhangian University in Markazi Province was selected using convenience sampling. The data collection tool was a 30-item questionnaire designed based on the Tuber’s book, entitled, “Classroom Management”, and validated by the researchers. This questionnaire consisted of six subscales: A place for punishment, Assertive discipline, Tools for teaching, Social discipline, Reality therapy, and Teacher effectiveness training. Findings: The results of this study showed that the preferred classroom management model among the participants did not differ significantly from the ideal classroom management model. They also indicated that A place for punishment model does not have the necessary efficiency in classroom management, but the other five models, which are based on innovative paradigms, such as humanism and constructivism, can be effective in this regard. Furthermore, the findings indicated that there was no significant difference between the attitudes of female and male graduates. Conclusion: Based on these results, it can be concluded that the attitudes toward classroom management among English Language Teaching graduates at Farhangian University are at an acceptable level, but improvement is needed in some effective models.
