Abstract

Considering the importance of the position and role of Farhangian University faculty members in the humanization cycle, the present study qualitatively analyzed exercise among Farhangian University faculty members and explained its training consequences to student teachers, identified existing obstacles, and promoted strategies. Methods: The present study was qualitative and applied. The research population consisted of Farhangian University faculty members and student teachers who were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and continued until theoretical saturation was reached. Data analysis was conducted in several stages including coding, theme extraction, and final organization. Also, descriptive statistics were used to describe the characteristics of the participants (faculty members) and report the frequency of themes. To ensure the validity of the data, the criteria of believability, transferability, reliability, and verifiability were used. Review by participants and expert opinions were used as methods to increase validity.Findings: The findings indicate that the level of interest in exercise among faculty is good. But exercising is moderate. A relationship was observed between the desire to exercise and exercising with gender, age, and burnout. Also, the consequences of faculty members exercising on the student-teacher training were evaluated as positive. The most important obstacles to exercise among faculty members were identified at the individual, organizational, and national dimensions, and ultimately strategies for promoting sports were developed. Conclusion: It can be stated that although faculty members know the importance of exercising, individual, organizational, and national obstacles have prevented this awareness from being transformed into regular exercise.
