The effect of dynamic personality on job involvement and job competence of sports teachers

Abstract

The design of modern education development in the educational system must be responsive and adaptable to sudden changes and retraining of teachers and students at all stages and levels of education (Meyer & Norman, 2020). Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to study The effect of proactive personality with the mediating role of job engagement on the job competence of physical education teachers. Methods: This applied research was conducted using a survey research method. Its statistical population included all physical education teachers in Golestan province, of which 247 teachers were selected as a statistical sample. The research data collection tools included proactive personality questionnaires (Parker et al., 2010), job engagement (Skas, 2006), and job competence (Diyanati & Erfani, 2009). The collected data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially using two statistical softwares: SPSS and SmartPLS. Findings: The results of the study showed that the effect of proactive personality on job engagement of physical education teachers is positive and significant. The results also indicated that the effect of proactive personality on the job competence of physical education teachers was positive and significant. Finally, the positive and significant effect of proactive personality on the job competence of physical education teachers with the mediating role of job engagement was confirmed. Conclusion: : According to the findings of this study, it can be concluded that managers should consider personality traits in the recruitment and professional development processes in order to develop a more effective and dedicated teaching workforce in physical education.
