Comparative Study of Level of Learning Achieved from Computer Games and Hand-made Educational Methods among Male Students with Oppositional Defiant Disorderو

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the learning outcomes of computer games and hand-made educational methods among male students with oppositional defiant disorder. The research method is quasi-experimental with pre-test and post-test. The statistical population of the study consisted of all primary students with oppositional defiant disorder in district 5 of Tehran. The sample size was selected by cluster sampling method. Out of 29 elementary schools, 10 schools were randomly selected. With the help of school authorities, psychologists, and education professionals, 24 students with oppositional defiant disorder were identified and selected as the research sample. The research instrument was a researcher-made test consisting of 12 questions with a reliability of Cronbach's alpha of 0.82, and the validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts. The results showed that in the computer games educational method, there is a significant difference between educational mean scores of students with oppositional defiant disorder in post-test (17/90) and in pre-test (12/20). In the hand-made educational method, there is a significant difference between the mean scores students with oppositional defiant disorder in pretest (19.19) and posttest (13.25) (P <0.001). There was a significant difference between the mean scores of students with oppositional defiant disorder in computer games and hand-made educational methods (P <0.001). The results show that computer games and hand-made educational methods have a positive effect on learning of students with oppositional defiant disorder, and the method of educational hand-made has more effect on learning than the method of educational games..
