Construction and validation of Principals’ Competence model for Pardis Farhangiyan Universities

Abstract

Background and Objectives: The present article aimed at construction and validation of Principals’ competency model in Pardis Farhangiyan Universities. Methods: The mixed method of research contained of two qualitative and quantitative phases. The statistical population of qualitative phase consisted of Principals and also, principals, deputies and experts of Farhangiyan Universities in quantitative phase during 2021-2022. 15 experts and in 100 individuals who were chosen in cluster method were chosen as sample case. The data were gathered through semi-structural interviews and researcher made questionnaire. The validity of questionnaires was content validity and the reliability was gained through re-test and Cronbach alpha. The Theme Analysis and Exploratory Factor Analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings: At qualitative phase among 256 initial codes, 57 categorized codes, 14 sub-themes and 5 basic themes were identified as Principals’ competency features. These were considered as Individual, Management and Executive, Organizational, Communicational and Professional Competencies, which had designed research model. In quantitative level also, the construct validity and items factorization through exploratory factor analysis was applied and eventually, the competency model of Pardis Farhangiyan Universities was validated and approved. Conclusion: Hence, The localized questionnaires for the competency measurement of higher education institutions’ principals were identified applicable.
