The effect of using the scamper method on students' academic achievement and creativity in virtual biology education

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of using the scamper method on the rate of academic achievement and creativity of female students in the virtual education of biology course in the tenth grade of Taleghani High School in Roodehen in the academic year 2020-2021. From the statistical population, two classes were randomly selected with 64 students, one class with scamper method and the next class with the traditional method were taught online by a teacher. The research was conducted as a quasi-experimental with a pretest-post test design. Torrance questionnaire was used to evaluate the effect of the scamper method on creativity. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to investigate the research hypotheses and data analysis. The results showed that the experimental and control groups did not have a significant difference in the variable of academic achievement compared; But in the creativity variable, the difference was significant. In general, the results showed that virtual education of biology courses by the Scamper method is ineffective in terms of conceptual understanding of content and academic achievement, and its intervention in teaching only increases the level of creativity in students.
