Abstract

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of critical thinking training on the self-esteem of sixth grade female students in Khoramabad city. The research method is semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design. The socio-statistics of the current research are all female students of the sixth grade in Khoram Abad city in the academic year of 2018/2019. 30 students were selected using the multi-stage cluster random sampling method. And they were randomly divided into two experimental (15 people) and control (15 people) groups. The tool for data collection in this research is the self-esteem test questionnaire (Cooper Smith) in the experimental and control groups before and after the intervention. The people of the experimental group participated in 10 sessions of 50 minutes for critical thinking training, then a post-test was taken from both groups (experimental and control). The collected data were analyzed with inferential statistics, MANCOVA , and the results indicated the efficiency and effectiveness of the method, and all the research hypotheses were confirmed. Therefore, it can be concluded that teaching critical thinking increases students' self-confidence. It is also suggested to devote hours to teaching critical thinking in schools.
