Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between classroom perceptions and attitudes toward school through self-directed learning learning in high school male students. The research method was descriptive-correlational. The statistical population is all male high school students in Behshahr public schools in the academic year of 1998-99, which was a total of 800 people. Samples were selected. Data collection tools included standard Gentry Gobel and Riza (2002) questionnaires, McCouch & Siegel school attitudes (2003) and self-directed learning from the Fisher scale (2001). Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and structural equations using SPSS18 and PLS software. Findings showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between students' interest, challenging behaviors, attitude towards school, choice and feeling of pleasure with attitude towards school in second grade high school male students in Behshahr. Findings also showed that in addition to the direct role of classroom perception on school attitudes, indirectly and through self-directed learning has also played a role on school attitudes. The relationship between classroom perception and school attitudes was confirmed.
